That is completely normal. Many clients come to Renew knowing what they want help with, but not knowing which therapy is best. Start with your goal: pain, inflammation, injury recovery, sports recovery, low energy, stress, poor sleep, skin health, body transformation, post-surgery support or general self-optimisation. From there, we can guide you towards a suitable therapy or combination, such as red light therapy, PEMF, HBOT, cryotherapy, compression therapy, localised cryotherapy or Styku body scanning.
Therapy Questions
Not sure which Renew therapy is right for you? These answers explain the most common questions people ask before booking red light therapy, PEMF, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, cryotherapy, localised cryotherapy and compression therapy.
The best therapy to start with depends on what you want help with. For soreness, inflammation support or post-training recovery, cryotherapy, compression, red light therapy and PEMF may be suitable. For deeper recovery, oxygenation, injury recovery support or post-surgery support, HBOT may be a strong option. For skin health, collagen-focused routines and healthy ageing, red light therapy is often a good starting point. For body transformation and progress tracking, Styku 3D body scanning is ideal. If you are unsure, contact Renew and we can help match your goal to the most suitable option.
Yes. Many Renew clients choose to combine therapies into a recovery, wellness or optimisation stack. Popular combinations include red light therapy with PEMF, cryotherapy with compression, HBOT with red light therapy, and localised cryotherapy with other recovery therapies. Combining therapies can be useful when your goal involves several areas, such as inflammation support, oxygenation, circulation, relaxation and cellular energy. The best combination depends on your goal, suitability, available time and whether you prefer a focused session or a full-body recovery experience.
Red light therapy is commonly used to support cellular energy, skin health, collagen-focused routines, muscle recovery, tissue repair processes, soreness, stiffness and healthy ageing. It uses red and near-infrared light wavelengths to support the body's natural recovery and repair processes. Many clients use red light therapy for skin glow, recovery after training, general wellbeing, pain and inflammation support, and as part of a longer-term wellness or longevity routine. It also pairs well with PEMF, HBOT and compression therapy.
This depends on your goal and how consistent you want your routine to be. Some clients use red light therapy occasionally as part of a general recovery or wellness routine, while others prefer a course of regular sessions for skin, muscle recovery, healthy ageing or inflammation support. For most goals, consistency tends to matter more than a single isolated session. Renew can help suggest a sensible starting routine based on whether your priority is skin, recovery, pain support, energy, sports performance or general optimisation.
PEMF therapy is usually a calm, gentle and relaxing experience. PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, and it uses gentle pulsed electromagnetic fields to support cellular activity, recovery and relaxation routines. Some people feel subtle pulsing, warmth, relaxation or heaviness in the body, while others simply feel calm during the session. It is commonly used as part of stress support, nervous system recovery, sleep-focused routines, soreness, stiffness and general wellbeing. PEMF can be used on its own, but many clients combine it with red light therapy.
HBOT stands for hyperbaric oxygen therapy. It involves breathing oxygen inside a pressurised chamber, which supports increased oxygen availability in the body. At Renew, HBOT is used as part of wellness, recovery, energy, post-surgery support, injury recovery and longevity-focused routines. Many clients choose HBOT when they want a deeper recovery session or when their goal involves oxygenation, repair, fatigue support or general optimisation. HBOT does not replace medical care or medical advice, but it can be used as part of a wider recovery and wellbeing routine where suitable.
HBOT is not suitable for everyone. Suitability depends on your health, medical history and individual circumstances. If you are pregnant, under medical supervision, have ear or sinus problems, lung conditions, recent surgery, pressure sensitivity, or any concerns about being in a pressurised chamber, you should seek appropriate medical advice before booking. Renew can discuss general suitability and explain how the session works, but we do not diagnose conditions or replace medical care. The priority is always that your session is appropriate and comfortable for you.
Whole-body cryotherapy is a short, controlled cold exposure session designed to support recovery, soreness, inflammation management, energy and performance routines. The session itself is brief, and you will be guided before starting so you know exactly what to expect. Minimal clothing is used, with essential protective items provided. Many people describe the session as intense but manageable, with an energised feeling afterwards. If you have medical concerns, cold sensitivity, circulation issues or are unsure whether cold exposure is suitable, check before booking.
Whole-body cryotherapy is designed as a short full-body cold exposure experience. It is commonly used for general recovery, sports recovery, energy, soreness, inflammation support and performance routines. Localised cryotherapy is different because it focuses cold exposure directly on one specific area, such as a knee, shoulder, ankle, elbow, hip, lower back or other area of discomfort. Whole-body cryotherapy is more general; localised cryotherapy is more targeted. Some clients use one or the other, while others use both depending on their recovery goal.
Compression therapy is best suited to circulation support, lymphatic flow, heavy legs, post-training recovery and relaxation. It uses dynamic air compression to gently squeeze and release the limbs, helping support blood flow and fluid movement. It is popular with runners, gym users, athletes, people who stand for long periods, and anyone who wants a relaxing recovery session. Compression therapy pairs well with cryotherapy, red light therapy and PEMF, especially when your goal is recovery, circulation or reducing that heavy-leg feeling.
What Should I Wear?
Different Renew therapies work best with different clothing. The guidance below will help you feel prepared before your appointment. If you are unsure, contact us before your visit and we will guide you.
For whole-body cryotherapy, minimal clothing is best. Shorts, swimwear, bikini or similar are ideal because more skin exposure allows a better cryotherapy experience. Renew provides the essential protective items required for the session. Beyond that, wear what you feel comfortable in while keeping skin exposure as high as possible. If you are unsure what to bring, contact us before your appointment.
For red light therapy, the more skin exposure the better. You can wear nothing, underwear, shorts or swimwear depending on your comfort level. The session takes place in a locked private room, so you have privacy throughout. The aim is to allow the red and near-infrared light to reach as much skin as comfortably possible.
Normal comfortable clothing is fine for hyperbaric oxygen therapy. If you get warm easily, or during warmer weather, shorts and a T-shirt are recommended. Shoes are not worn inside the chamber. You can take your phone, laptop, book or similar items in with you if you wish, so the session can be relaxing and convenient.
Shorts, close-fitting trousers or leggings are best for compression therapy. Jeans are not ideal because they can feel bulky and may reduce comfort during the session. The aim is to allow the compression boots to fit comfortably and work effectively while you relax.
If PEMF therapy is used on its own, normal clothing is fine because the therapy can pass through clothing to the body. Many clients choose to combine PEMF with red light therapy, in which case more skin exposure is better because of the red light element. We will guide you based on the session you have booked.
For the Styku 3D Body Scan, minimal and close-fitting clothing is best. Underwear, fitted shorts, sports bra, bikini or similar works well because loose clothing can affect scan accuracy. Hair should be tied up, and jewellery, watches and bulky accessories should be removed before the scan so the scanner can capture a cleaner body shape reading.
Therapy Suitability
Yes, many Renew clients combine therapies into a recovery, wellness or optimisation protocol. A combined approach can be useful because different therapies support different areas, such as oxygenation, circulation, inflammation management, cellular energy, relaxation and recovery. For example, red light and PEMF work well together for a calming cellular recovery session, cryotherapy and compression are popular for sports recovery, and HBOT can be paired with red light for deeper recovery support. The right combination depends on your goals, suitability and available time.
Renew offers wellness, recovery and self-optimisation therapies. We do not diagnose medical conditions, replace medical care or guarantee specific outcomes. Our therapies are designed to support the body's natural recovery, relaxation, circulation, oxygenation, cellular energy and wellbeing routines. If you are under medical supervision, pregnant, recovering from surgery, have a diagnosed condition or are unsure whether a therapy is suitable, you should seek appropriate medical advice before booking. We can explain how the therapies work and help you choose a suitable starting point.
The number of sessions depends on your goal, starting point, lifestyle and how consistent you want your routine to be. Some people visit Renew for a single recovery session or experience, while others use therapies regularly as part of a longer-term plan for recovery, skin, energy, pain support, sports performance or body transformation. In general, many wellness and recovery goals benefit from consistency over time rather than a single session. If you are unsure, start with one session or a focused package and review how you feel.
Red Light Therapy
Red light therapy is commonly used to support cellular energy, recovery, skin health, muscle recovery and general wellbeing. It uses red and near-infrared light wavelengths to support the body's natural repair and recovery processes. Clients often choose red light therapy for skin glow, collagen-focused routines, soreness, stiffness, recovery after exercise, healthy ageing and general optimisation. It is also a strong therapy to combine with PEMF or HBOT when you want a deeper recovery or self-optimisation session.
No. Red light therapy is non-invasive and should feel gentle, warm and relaxing. There are no needles, pressure, cold exposure or physical manipulation involved. You simply relax in the red light environment while the light reaches exposed skin. For best results, more skin exposure is recommended, but you can dress to your own comfort level. The session takes place in a locked private room, so you have privacy throughout.
PEMF
PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic field therapy. It uses gentle pulsed electromagnetic fields to support cellular activity, recovery and relaxation routines. At Renew, PEMF can be used on its own or combined with red light therapy. When used alone, clothing is fine because PEMF can pass through clothing to the body. Many clients find PEMF calming and use it as part of stress support, nervous system recovery, sleep-focused routines, soreness, stiffness and general wellbeing.
PEMF is commonly used as part of recovery, relaxation, sleep, stress and pain-support routines. It can be a good option for people who feel physically tense, mentally overloaded, run down, sore or in need of a calmer recovery-focused session. Many clients also choose PEMF alongside red light therapy because the combination supports both cellular energy and relaxation. It is not a medical treatment, but it can be a useful part of a wider wellness, recovery or self-optimisation routine.
HBOT
HBOT stands for hyperbaric oxygen therapy. It involves breathing oxygen inside a pressurised chamber, which supports oxygen availability in the body. At Renew, HBOT is used as part of recovery, wellness, energy, post-surgery support, injury recovery and longevity-focused routines. During the session, you can relax, read, use your phone, use a laptop or rest. Shoes are not worn inside the chamber, and comfortable clothing is recommended.
HBOT may be suitable for clients interested in recovery, oxygenation, energy, injury recovery support, post-surgery support, wellness and long-term optimisation. However, suitability depends on the individual. People with certain medical conditions, ear or sinus problems, lung issues, pregnancy, recent surgery or concerns about pressure-based therapy should seek appropriate medical advice before booking. Renew can explain the session and discuss general suitability, but we do not diagnose or replace medical care.
Cryotherapy
Whole-body cryotherapy is a short cold exposure session used in recovery, performance and wellness routines. It is commonly chosen by clients who want to support sports recovery, soreness, inflammation management, energy, resilience and general wellbeing. The session is brief, controlled and guided. Many clients use cryotherapy after training, during periods of high physical load, or as part of a regular recovery routine. If you are unsure whether cold exposure is suitable, contact Renew before booking.
If you are unsure what to bring, contact us before your appointment and we will guide you.
Compression Therapy
Compression therapy uses dynamic air compression to support circulation, lymphatic flow and recovery, especially in the legs. The compression boots gently inflate and deflate in cycles, creating a squeezing and releasing effect. Many clients find it relaxing and use it after training, running, long periods on their feet or when their legs feel heavy. It is also a strong add-on after cryotherapy or alongside red light and PEMF.
Compression therapy is popular with active people, runners, gym users, athletes, people with heavy legs, and anyone who wants a relaxing recovery session. It can be useful after hard training, long walks, travel, standing all day or when your legs feel tired and sluggish. It is best experienced in shorts, leggings or close-fitting trousers. Jeans are not ideal because they can feel bulky and reduce comfort during the session.
Localised Cryotherapy
Targeted cold therapy for specific areas, injuries, soreness, pain and inflammation support.
Localised cryotherapy is targeted cold therapy applied directly to a specific area of the body, usually for around 5–7 minutes per area. It is commonly used for local soreness, stiffness, swelling, inflammation support and injury recovery routines. Unlike whole-body cryotherapy, localised cryotherapy focuses on one specific area, such as a knee, shoulder, ankle, elbow, hip, lower back or another area of discomfort.
Whole-body cryotherapy exposes the body to cold for a short full-body session and is commonly used for overall recovery, energy, soreness and performance routines. Localised cryotherapy is more targeted. It applies focused cold exposure directly to one specific area where the client wants support. Whole-body cryotherapy is better for a general recovery stimulus, while localised cryotherapy is more suitable when there is a specific sore, stiff or irritated area.
Localised cryotherapy is commonly used for targeted pain support, swelling, stiffness, inflammation management, muscle tightness, sports injuries and irritated areas that need focused recovery support. Clients often choose it for areas such as knees, shoulders, ankles, elbows, hips, lower back or other localised discomfort. It does not replace medical treatment, but it can be used as part of a recovery and wellbeing routine where suitable.
A localised cryotherapy session is usually around 5–7 minutes per area. The exact time may depend on the area being treated, your comfort and the goal of the session. Because it is targeted and quick, it can be a convenient option for people who want focused support for a specific area without booking a full-body cryotherapy session.
Styku 3D Body Scanner
Styku is a body analysis and progress tracking tool, not a therapy. These FAQs explain how it can support your transformation journey.
Styku is a 3D body scanning and body analysis tool that creates a visual body scan and helps track changes in body shape and measurements over time. It is useful for transformation journeys, fat loss, muscle gain, fitness progress, body recomposition and accountability. Instead of relying only on body weight, Styku gives you a clearer picture of how your shape and measurements are changing.
No. Styku is not a therapy. It is a body analysis and progress tracking tool. It does not treat the body, but it helps you understand and monitor changes during a fitness, wellness or transformation journey. It is ideal for people who want measurable progress data alongside training, nutrition, lifestyle changes or Renew's recovery and optimisation therapies.
Body weight alone does not show the full picture. You can lose fat, gain muscle, change shape or improve body composition without seeing a dramatic change on the scales. Styku helps track visual body shape changes and key measurements over time, which can be more useful for people building muscle, losing fat, improving fitness or changing body composition. It gives you a better way to monitor progress beyond weight alone.
This depends on your goal. Many clients start with an initial scan to create a baseline, then repeat scans every few weeks to monitor progress. Scanning too frequently may not show meaningful change, but regular check-ins over time can be very useful during a transformation. The unlimited 6-month option is ideal for people who want ongoing progress tracking, accountability and visual feedback throughout their journey.
